Zaporozhye Automobile Building Plant (CJSC "ZAZ") created a car for the tallest man of the planet. Upon the request of President of Ukraine, Victor Yuschenko, specialists of CJSC "ZAZ" created a car for Ukrainian giant. The height of Leonid Stadnik from Zhytomir city is 2 m 55 cm, and cars with standard dimensions are too small for the tallest man of the planet. "Chevrolet Tacuma" was adapted for the peculiar features of Leonid Stadnik's constitution. The ceremony of handing the car to its owner took place on the 24th of March in front of the building of President's Administration. - I would be very happy with any vehicle. Now I will be able to drive more in this car and will travel more often, - Leonid Stadnik commented about the gift. Chairman of the Board of CJSC "ZAZ", Nikolay Yevdokimenko: - "Chevrolet Tacuma" was selected as the mostly suitable car among those manufactured by CJSC "ZAZ". The choice was determined by the height of interior and the power of 2.0 liter engine. This car is notable for good consumer performances and is quite durable in operation in Ukraine. Similar car out of those, which pass testing at ZAZ, was send to Leonid Stadnik's place of residence in order to determine the possibilities to make changes. After that the car was modified in the Experimental Shop of Design Division. Engineers of Zaporozhye Automobile Building Plant made design changes in the front passenger seat and headrest. The scope of modifications includes: change of right-hand front seat with deletion of seat turning mechanism, shifting it 120 mm backwards and lowering 70 mm down, as well as change of the headrest. As a result of the works special seat mounting frame was designed and manufactured, and the seat with consideration of taken measurements was installed. This enabled to accommodate well a very tall man in the car. The company has been producing the cars for people with limited abilities of locomotor apparatus for nearly half a century. The order to make individual version of the car has been fulfilled for the first time. For reference: " Nowadays Zaporozhye Automobile Building Plant is the only company in Ukraine where serial conveyor production of cars for the people with limited abilities of locomotor apparatus is arranged. " Serial production of cars for the people with limited abilities of locomotor apparatus was started in the company in 1961. " In order to provide the people with limited abilities, in 2008 CJSC "Zaporozhye Automobile Building Plant" will produce the cars "Slavuta", versions 110377, 110380 and 110387; the production plan includes 1567 cars. For comparison: in 2007 CJSC "ZAZ" produced 4269 units of such cars. Production plan is made according to the order from the Ministry of Labor & Social Policy of Ukraine and Fund of social insurance against accidents in production.
