In spite of recession of demand on Ukrainian and world auto markets and temporary suspension of production of world leading automobile manufacturers, ZAZ keep on producing. According to Honorary President of "UkrAVTO" Corporation Tariel Vasadze, - "We are not going to stop production completely, not at any price". Of course, he says, crisis effects production volume, but industry is waiting for government support to avoid further recession and at least to hold on reached level. "Euphoria after reduction of import duty and reduction of import prices is over. It is time to see contrariwise: who needs cheap import products when people lose their work or suffer from reduction of income?", - asks Tariel Vasadze. From May 2008 , after joining to WTO, customs duties on imported automobiles and other goods in Ukraine have been reduced in two times. Open way for import results in negative external economic balance, recession in demand on Ukrainian goods аnd recession of industrial production (from this autumn). Ukrainian automobile manufacturers repeatedly pay attention to necessity of temporary rise in customs duties on import automobiles, but there are no real steps from government to meet domestic producers.
